14 Year Old Shows Government How It Could Save $234 Million/Year | Weasel Zippers

Great thought. What if government spent time figuring out how to save
money rather than how to spend it? Of course, that’s only a thought…

Via LA Times:

A 14-year-old student has published a study detailing how
the U.S. federal and state governments could collectively save about
$234 million a year by simply switching the type of font that is used on
printed documents.

In his study, Suvir Mirchandani, who lives in the Pittsburgh area,
said he found that Garamond is the most efficient font for printing,
among the fonts recommend for use by the General Services
Administration. This is because Garamond uses thinner strokes for its
letters, meaning less ink is used on each character.

If the U.S. government stopped using Times New Roman and Century
Gothic and switched to Garamond, it could reduce its annual cost of ink
from $467 million per year by more than 29%. That means it would save
about $136 million per year.

An additional $97 million could be saved if state and local governments made the switch too.

Is There No Alternative to Forcing People to Violate Their Religious Beliefs? | Cato @ Liberty

Is There No Alternative to Forcing People to Violate Their Religious Beliefs? | Cato @ Liberty: The government fared even worse on its position that for-profit corporations can’t assert religious-exercise interests in the first place. Even Justice Kagan recognized that under certain circumstances, for-profit enterprises may engage in religious activity. While Cato’s amicus brief argued that this “standing” issue is purely academic anyway – the individual corporate owners feel the mandate/fines regardless of who is exercising religion or bringing lawsuits – I count seven votes for getting past this threshold issue.

The ObamaCare numbers that really matter | Fox News

The ObamaCare numbers that really matter | Fox News: THE OBAMACARE NUMBERS THAT REALLY MATTER
What the number that matters most today on ObamaCare? The administration hopes you think that its much-touted figure of 6 million potential ObamaCare enrollees win the prize. But that’s a mostly meaningless metric that does not reveal any relevant data about those who have signed up (or clicked a box indicating that they might sign up in the next few weeks). Who paid? No idea. How many of them are just refugees from ObamaCare regulations that cancelled existing policies? Don’t know? What is the proportion of sick, costly subscribers to healthy, low-cost customers? Can’t say. Can they say anything at all about numbers at all? They think they’re great and they’re quite proud of themselves. But that, of course, tells us nothing about how this disaster-prone initiative is playing with voters or might shape the fall elections. Fortunately, we have a spate of new polling to answer those questions.

Fox News Poll: Voters see worsening job situation | Fox News

Fox News Poll: Voters see worsening job situation | Fox News: More American voters think the nation’s job situation is getting worse rather than better by a 48-39 percent margin according to the latest Fox News poll.

The Multi-Faceted Farce of Obamacare | International Liberty: Wow, just 2 percent of the uninsured. That’s a high failure rate, even by government standards.

Politics: The six undeniable elements of the ObamaCare scam | Best of Cain: The latest delay to ObamaCare - is it the 29th? the 30th? I can't keep track anymore - should leave no doubt in anyone's mind that this ill-conceived law is a complete and utter disaster. I don't think there is anyone left outside the partisan Democrat world (and the mainstream media, which is just another way of saying the same thing) who fails to sense that at this point.

Monster 15-inch rat terrorises Swedish family after chewing through CONCRETE wall | Mail Online

Monster 15-inch rat terrorises Swedish family after chewing through CONCRETE wall | Mail Online: Exterminators were called in and placed industry-sized traps to catch the rat, and less than a day later one of them snapped.

However, when the family checked, the trap was gone. The rat was so powerful that it had carried the trap with it, snapped around its neck.

‘It didn’t die when it went into the trap, but scurried away. It went underneath a wooden plant, where it got stuck and choked itself to death,’ Mr Bengtsson-Korsås said.

‘It was the biggest rat I have ever seen, and it looked like itwas in good shape as the fur was nice,’ he added.

Ann Coulter - March 26, 2014 - SCREW YOU, MICKEY KAUS

Ann Coulter - March 26, 2014 - SCREW YOU, MICKEY KAUS: I've been thrown off my health insurance -- THANKS, OBAMACARE! -- and have spent hours and hours over the past month trying to figure out my options now that the Democrats have made my old plan, which I liked, "illegal." (I prefer to think of my plan as "undocumented.")

Whom do I bill for the hours of work Obamacare forced me to perform? How about you, Mickey? You're the smartest living liberal (faint praise), and you assured us that Obamacare was going to be fantastic.

By now, Obama has issued "waivers" from Obamacare to about 99 percent of the country. (Perhaps you've heard, there's a big midterm election this year.) As one of the few Americans not granted a waiver, I'm here to tell you: You have no idea what's coming, America.

Now Open – 800 Concentration Camps in the USA Ready to Serve YOU | The Conservative Papers

Now Open – 800 Concentration Camps in the USA Ready to Serve YOU | The Conservative Papers

There are over 800 prison camps in the United States, all fully
operational and ready to receive prisoners. They are all staffed and
even surrounded by full-time guards, but they are all empty. These camps
are to be operated by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) should
Martial Law need to be implemented in the United States and all it
would take is a presidential signature on a proclamation and the
attorney general’s signature on a warrant to which a list of names is
attached. Ask yourself if you really want to be on THE list.

The Rex 84 Program was established on the reasoning that if a “mass
exodus” of illegal aliens crossed the Mexican/US border, they would be
quickly rounded up and detained in detention centers by FEMA. Rex 84
allowed many military bases to be closed down and to be turned into

Operation Cable Splicer and Garden Plot are the two sub programs
which will be implemented once the Rex 84 program is initiated for its
proper purpose. Garden Plot is the program to control the population.
Cable Splicer is the program for an orderly takeover of the state and
local governments by the federal government. FEMA is the executive arm
of the coming police state and thus will head up all operations. The
Presidential Executive Orders already listed on the Federal Register
also are part of the legal framework for this operation.

The camps all have railroad facilities as well as roads leading to
and from the detention facilities. Many also have an airport nearby. The
majority of the camps can house a population of 20,000 prisoners.
Currently, the largest of these facilities is just outside of Fairbanks,
Alaska. The Alaskan facility is a massive mental health facility and
can hold approximately 2 million people.

Now let’s review the justification for any actions taken…

Executive Orders associated with FEMA that would suspend the
Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These Executive Orders have been on
record for nearly 30 years and could be enacted by the stroke of a
Presidential pen:…

allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.

allows the government to seize and control the communication media.

allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals.

allows the government to seize all means of transportation, including
personal cars, trucks or vehicles of any kind and total control over
all highways, seaports, and waterways.

allows the government to take over all food resources and farms.

allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.

allows the government to take over all health, education and welfare functions.

designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons.

allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft.

allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities,
build new housing with public funds, designate areas to be abandoned,
and establish new locations for populations.

allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities.

specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and
gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of
increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis.

grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans
set out in Executive Orders, to institute industrial support, to
establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to
operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist
the President.

assigns emergency preparedness function to federal departments and
agencies, consolidating 21 operative Executive Orders issued over a
fifteen year period.

allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency to develop plans to
establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, of
energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in U.S.
financial institution in any undefined national emergency. It also
provides that when a state of emergency is declared by the President,
Congress cannot review the action for six months. The Federal Emergency
Management Agency has broad powers in every aspect of the nation.
General Frank Salzedo, chief of FEMA’s Civil Security Division stated in
a 1983 conference that he saw FEMA’s role as a “new frontier in the
protection of individual and governmental leaders from assassination,
and of civil and military installations from sabotage and/or attack, as
well as prevention of dissident groups from gaining access to U.S.
opinion, or a global audience in times of crisis.” FEMA’s powers were
consolidated by President Carter to incorporate the…

National Security Act of 1947

allows for the strategic relocation of industries, services,
government and other essential economic activities, and to rationalize
the requirements for manpower, resources and production facilities.

1950 Defense Production Act

gives the President sweeping powers over all aspects of the economy.

Act of August 29, 1916

authorizes the Secretary of the Army, in time of war, to take
possession of any transportation system for transporting troops,
material, or any other purpose related to the emergency.

International Emergency Economic Powers Act

enables the President to seize the property of a foreign country or
national. These powers were transferred to FEMA in a sweeping
consolidation in 1979.

“Waco: A New Revelation” Reese AFB (Lubbock) – FEMA designated detention

Sheppard AFB – in Wichita Falls just south of Ft. Sill, OK. FEMA designated detention facility.

North Dallas – near Carrolton – water treatment plant, close to interstate and railroad.

Mexia – East of Waco 33mi.; WWII German facility may be renovated.

Amarillo – FEMA designated detention facility

Ft. Bliss (El Paso) – Extensive renovation of buildings and from what
patriots have been able to see, many of these buildings that are being
renovated are being surrounded by razor wire.

Beaumont / Port Arthur area – hundreds of acres of federal camps already
built on large-scale detention camp design, complete with the double
rows of chain link fencing with razor type concertina wire on top of
each row. Some (but not all) of these facilities are currently being
used for low-risk state prisoners who require a minimum of supervision.

Ft. Worth – Federal prison under construction on the site of Carswell AFB.

Millard County – Central Utah – WWII Japanese camp. (Renovated?)

Ft. Douglas – This “inactive” military reservation has a renovated WWII concentration camp.

Migratory Bird Refuge – West of Brigham City – contains a WWII
internment camp that was built before the game preserve was established.

Cedar City – east of city – no data available. Wendover – WWII internment camp may be renovated.

Skull Valley – southwestern Camp William property – east of the old
bombing range. Camp was accidentally discovered by a man and his son who
were rabbit hunting; they were discovered and apprehended. SW of

Ft. A.P. Hill (Fredericksburg) – Rex 84 / FEMA facility. Estimated capacity 45,000.

Petersburg – Federal satellite prison camp, south of Richmond.

Beckley – Alderson – Lewisburg – Former WWII detention camps that are
now converted into active federal prison complexes capable of holding
several times their current populations. Alderson is presently a women’s
federal reformatory.

Morgantown – Federal prison camp located in northern WV; just north of Kingwood.

Mill Creek – FEMA detention facility.

Kingwood – Newly built detention camp at Camp Dawson Army Reservation. More data needed on Camp Dawson.

Seattle/Tacoma – SeaTac Airport: fully operational federal transfer center

Okanogan County – Borders Canada and is a site for a massive
concentration camp capable of holding hundreds of thousands of people
for slave labor. This is probably one of the locations that will be used
to hold hard core patriots who will be held captive for the rest of
their lives.

Sand Point Naval Station – Seattle – FEMA detention center used actively during the 1999 WTO protests to classify prisoners.

Ft. Lewis / McChord AFB – near Tacoma – This is one of several sites
that may be used to ship prisoners overseas for slave labor.

Ft. McCoy – Rex 84 facility with several complete interment compounds.

Oxford – Central part of state – Federal prison & staellite camp and FEMA detention facility.

Heart Mountain – Park County N. of Cody – WWII Japanese interment camp ready for renovation.

East Yellowstone – Manned internment facility – Investigating patriots
were apprehended by European soldiers speaking in an unknown language.
Federal government assumed custody of the persons and arranged their

There are many other locations not listed above that are worthy of
consideration as a possible detention camp site, but due to space
limitations and the time needed to verify, could not be included here.
Virtually all military reservations, posts, bases, stations, &
depots can be considered highly suspect (because it is “federal” land).
Also fitting this category are “Regional Airports” and “International
Airports” which also fall under federal jurisdiction and have
limited-access areas. Mental hospitals, closed hospitals & nursing
homes, closed military bases, wildlife refuges, state prisons, toxic
waste dumps, hotels and other areas all have varying degrees of
potential for being a detention camp area. The likelihood of a site
being suspect increases with transportation access to the site,
including airports/airstrips, railheads, navigable waterways &
ports, interstate and US highways. Some facilities are “disguised” as
industrial or commercial properties, camouflaged or even wholly
contained inside large buildings (Indianapolis) or factories. Many
inner-city buildings left vacant during the de-industrialization of
America have been quietly acquired and held, sometimes retrofitted for
their new uses.

Our Canadian friends tell us that virtually all Canadian military bases,
especially those north of the 50th Parallel, are all set up with
concentration camps. Not even half of these can be listed, but here are a
few sites with the massive land space to handle any population:

Suffield CFB – just north of Medicine Hat, less than 60 miles from the USA.

Primrose Lake Air Range – 70 miles northeast of Edmonton.

Wainwright CFB – halfway between Medicine Hat and Primrose Lake.

Ft. Nelson – Northernmost point on the BC Railway line.

Ft. McPherson – Very cold territory ~ NW Territories. Ft. Providence –
Located on Great Slave Lake. Halifax – Nova Scotia. Dept. of National
Defense reserve…. And others.

Guayanabo, Puerto Rico – Federal prison camp facility. Capacity unknown.

Guantanamo Bay, Cuba – US Marine Corps Base – Presently home to 30,000
Mariel Cubans and 40,000 Albanians. Total capacity unknown.

Experts in Chile Fear Catastrophe as 300 Quakes Hit in One Week - Trunews: Trunews:

Experts in Chile Fear Catastrophe as 300 Quakes Hit in One Week - Trunews: Trunews:: Chile’s northern coast has been hit by more than 300 earthquakes in the past week in what seismologists warned Tuesday could be the precursor to a long-overdue disaster.

Most of these quakes have been too small to be felt on land, but people living near the city of Iquique have experienced the rumbling of up to a dozen tremors per day.

Experts analyzing this flood of data are worried the increased seismic activity could be a sign the region is about to experience its first devastating quake in 137 years. The last event, a magnitude-8.5 quake in 1877, killed thousands of people and created a deadly tsunami that reached Hawaii and Japan.

“It is very unusual activity and we are trying to find out what is causing it,” said Mario Pardo, deputy head of the seismology center at the University of Chile.

Obama: Romney Is Still Wrong About Russia | Mediaite

Obama: Romney Is Still Wrong About Russia | Mediaite: After making an arguable case that the president’s approach to America’s foreign adversaries was naïve and that his chief rival, former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, may have been correct in his clear-eyed assessment of the threat Moscow posed to the post-Cold War global order, President Obama did the only thing he could do — answer the question he wish he was asked.

Hey Politico, Apparently Public Schools Don’t Teach Low-Income Minority Kids Science at All -

Hey Politico, Apparently Public Schools Don’t Teach Low-Income Minority Kids Science at All - Matt Ladner, a senior education analyst with the Foundation for Excellence in Education, points out that Stephanie Simon suffers from a serious case of confirmation bias. He digs deeper into scores for low income students in private schools versus public schools on the NAEP science test and finds that poor kids in private schools outscore their public school peers in six out of eight comparisons and concludes that for low income kids when it comes to science there is a clear “private school advantage.” Ladner asks, “How is it that these kids at hillbilly flat-earther private schools keep managing to score about the same or more often better than their public school peers on the NAEP Science exams? Does the NAEP science framework ask a battery of questions on the Book of Genesis? Does learning how to play Duelling Banjos wire the mind for multiple choice science exams?”

Exclusive: Man found guilty of electronic cigarette law that does not exist - Knoxville Business | On March 20, 2014, I brought you a story about the first man to ever get a ticket in the United States for using an electronic cigarette while driving. Today (Mar. 22), I had the opportunity to sit down and speak with the accused man, Jason Dewing, via a telephone conversation to get further information on the incident. His story paints a picture of the injustices that are occurring in Upstate New York and makes one wonder if “vapers” are being targeted due to the amount of controversy surrounding the e-cigarette industry.

4 reasons ObamaCare premiums will rise next year - The Week: 3. Adjusted medical loss ratio
The Obama administration is expected to announce a tweak to a provision in the law that sets a minimum medical loss ratio (MLR), Kaiser Health News reported. Under current law, insurers are required to put at least 80 percent of their total premium revenue from individual and small group market plans toward medical payments or consumer rebates, with the rest going to administrative costs and profits.

The whole idea of the law was to limit insurers' profits and keep premiums stable. However, the rule change would alter that limit and allow insurers to spend more on administrative costs in order to help insurers cope with the rocky rollout.

Religion and the Internet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Religions are represented in the Internet in many ways. There are sites which attempt to cover all religions, traditions, and faiths, such as Patheos (which also provides a forum for atheism/humanism), Religious Tolerance, and Beliefnet, in addition to sites that are specific to a religious tradition. Many sites are discussion groups, others theological debates and some attempt to provide advice concerning religious doctrine. There are also sites that aim to provide a religious experience facilitating prayer, meditation, or virtual pilgrimages.[1][2][3] Article - 'Two and a Half Men' star Angus T. Cire - Catastrophe Lyrics: There's reason to fear catastrophe... but it's not from overseas...
it's in DC, and on Wall Street. It's hiding behind your TV screen.
It's a testament to the power of fiction...

then maybe we'd have a realistic picture

89% Of Venetians Vote For Independence From Italy, Will Withhold Taxes To Rome | Zero Hedge

89% Of Venetians Vote For Independence From Italy, Will Withhold Taxes To Rome | Zero Hedge: Inspired by Scotland's hopes for independence and hot on the heels of Crime'a 95% preference for accession to Russia, 89% of the citizens of Venice voted for their own sovereign state in a ‘referendum’ on independence from Italy. As The Daily Mail reports, the proposed ‘Repubblica Veneta’ includes the five million inhabitants of the Veneto region and has been largely driven by the wealthy 'who are tired of supporting the poor and crime-ridden south' (Venice pays EUR71bn in taxes and receives only EUR21bn in services and investment). The ballot appointed a committee of ten who immediately declared independence from Italy. Venice may now start withholding taxes from Rome.

Why Government Does Not Function - Tom O'Halloran

Why Government Does Not Function - Tom O'Halloran: It explains why we can elect a Representative or Senator, send him or her to Washington, D.C. and still see no progress. Instead, we get the Affordable Care Act—Obamacare—that began as a 2,700-page law that has already metastasized into regulations that, stacked up, stand seven feet tall! And more on the way. It has destroyed the healthcare insurance industry and is destroying the U.S. healthcare system.

France's municipal voting to test government grip

France's municipal voting to test government grip: PARIS (AP) — France's far-right National Front conquered a symbolic northern town in Sunday's first round of municipal elections and led in some other cities, drawing calls by the governing left and rival right to stop the anti-immigration party's advance.

The governing Socialist Party, which was victorious in 2008 voting, was losing ground to the conservative party, reflecting the deep unpopularity of President Francois Hollande who has failed to cure the struggling economy and unemployment rate hovering above 10 percent.

In Defense of Millennials and Individualism - There is suddenly much panic about the rise of the “selfie” generation. But millennials are simply rejecting the worn-out trappings and organizations of the Establishment—and quite right too.

That discomfort you’re sensing all around you? It’s the American Establishment loading its Depends diapers over the prospect of a younger generation that is turning its back on political parties and other zombified artifacts of our glorious past.

Laura Ingraham: 'This Is Your Country in Decline'

Laura Ingraham: 'This Is Your Country in Decline': "Remember that commercial that says your brain on drugs? This is your country in decline. I would say that the United States has a leader now that had an expansive view of what the world community would be like, would have more harmony. the U.S. would step back and the world would step in and would have a more stable world. What i think you see now is that, of course, the world is less stable with America weaker. What we can do in this part of the world, I don't think we're going to do much. I think we can talk a lot about sanctions. Sanctions might have some minimal effect, unless Europe steps up and less Germany matches the rhetoric with real world actions against the former Soviet Union, I think Putin sees this as a massive opening for him domestically and on the international stage. you see him getting closer to China. They have a strong alliance now. I think America's options are very limited."

Unrest in Venezuela Spawns a Folk Hero -

Unrest in Venezuela Spawns a Folk Hero - When the wave of student protests started a few weeks ago, Mr. Vivas took to YouTube and posted a long rant urging active duty officers not to fire at protesters. On Twitter, he offered practical advice on how to defend against attacks, particularly by gangs of pro-government thugs on motorcycles that were blamed for the shooting deaths of several protesters. The general recommended stringing up nylon or wire across streets to prevent riders from crossing.
