Howard Stern weighs in on gun control debate following Orlando attack | Fox News

Howard Stern weighs in on gun control debate following Orlando attack | Fox NewsHoward Stern gave his two cents on the gun control debate following the Orlando terrorist attack Sunday night.

"I'm so upset about Orlando and what went down," Stern said on his show Wednesday. "But I can't believe these people would come out afterward and their answer to Orlando is to take away guns from the public. It's f----ing mind-blowing to me."
Stern then went on to make an analogy comparing the public to sheep, the terrorists to wolves and the military and police to sheepdogs.
"Now, let’s say I walked up literally to a sheep herd, and they know that every night the wolves pick off a couple of them,” Stern said. “What if I went up to the sheep and I said, ‘You wanna have a shot at the wolves? I’m gonna give you a pistol. You can actually even the playing field with these wolves whose fangs are out — you could shoot them and save your family.'"
Stern said he's anti-violence and admits that he couldn't "hurt a fly" if confronted and labels himself as a sheep. But, he said, "there are such horrible monsters in our world."
"The wolves are always plotting. They’ll use boxcutters. They’ll use an airplane to fly it right into a building. They don’t need AR-15s."
The outspoken SiriusXm personality said he's not for "taking away people’s rights," adding he thinks "the answer doesn't lie in taking any kind of ability of the sheep to protect themselves from the wolves. I wish it was that simple."

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Dozens of FedEx jets queue up for takeoff at the airport here. Beale Street, the heart of the music district, hums with tourists. Yet the empty storefronts in Memphis' moribund downtown and the cash-advance shops strewn near its highways tell another story.

It's a tale of two cities, all in one place. And it's a tale of two Americas: the one that national averages indicate has all but recovered from the Great Recession and the one lost in the statistics.

Senate Dems Blocking Pro-Israel Effort to Stop Jewish Boycotts

A spokesperson for Leahy’s office did not respond to a Free Beacon request for comment on the matter.
Leahy has been a vocal critic of Israel and recently called on the State Department to launch an investigation into what he said were Israeli human rights violations in the Middle East. His effort elicited backlash from mainstream elements of the pro-Israel community, who rejected his accusations as meritless and an attempt to malign Israel.
Leahy also has come under fire for implying his Republican colleagues are more loyal to Israel than America. The accusation has widely been condemned as anti-Semitic in nature.

Latin American Herald Tribune - Bangladesh Police Arrest 8,500 in Massive Three-Day Operation

DHAKA – Bangladesh police made another 3,245 arrests in the last 24 hours, including 34 alleged extremists, police told EFE on Monday.

This raised the number of total arrests since the force launched a massive operation on Friday against Islamist groups responsible for a wave of targeted attacks on minorities to more than 8,500.

The 34 alleged extremists were arrested between Sunday morning and Monday, raising the total number of radical Islamic detainees to 119, deputy police inspector general Shahidur Rahman said.

They were among the more than 3,200 suspects apprehended over outstanding arrest warrants, drugs charges and illegal possession of firearms.

“The first phase of the operation will continue for one week following the steps provided. Prison authorities are working to make sure all detainees have a place in the prisons,” Rahman said.

The inspector general said most of the alleged extremists are members of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), while three others arrested in Dhaka are members of the Ansar al-Islam organization – also known as Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT).

“We are not in a position now to say if they are involved in some of the recent killings,” Rahman added.

Police assistant inspector general Md Monir Uz Zaman said authorities are hunting a network of “some 200 extremists who operate in small units.”

Police blame JMB and ATB for most of the targeted killings which intensified last year and which have claimed more than 40 lives since 2013, putting the country on edge.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina vowed Saturday to arrest all members of Islamist groups behind the violence, adding that it was only a “matter of time” before they were found.

At least 12 people have died since April 7 in targeted attacks, with most hacked to death.

This figure includes four people who were killed between June 5-10, including the wife of a senior police official at the forefront of the fight against terrorists.

Her killing provoked an unusually forceful condemnation from the Bangladeshi government and unleashed a series of police raids during which five alleged JMB members were killed.

Although authorities accuse home-grown outfits for the killing spree, responsibility for some of these incidents has also been claimed by jihadist group Islamic State, and the Al-Qaeda division in the Indian Subcontinent.
