Dell, EMC in merger talks - Business Insider

Dell is in talks to merge with $50 billion storage giant EMC, TheWall Street Journal reports, citing anonymous sources.
It's unclear if this would be a full merger or if Dell would just buy parts of EMC's business. Either way, it would be a huge deal between two of tech's biggest companies.

4 Key Techniques to Maximize Chest Size | Muscle & Fitness

Behind bars, a well-developed chest is called a “hood” and that equals status. Let’s take a look at some ignored strategies that can help you build the biggest hood in your ‘hood.
Personal feelings about the direction professional bodybuilding physiques are headed aside, it is fair to say that in no other bodybuilding era has the muscular development come close to the current crop that grace the Olympia Stage. 20+ inch arms, freakish leg development and broad shoulders are no longer anomalies, they are necessities.
Pundits often point out, in dismay, the distended bellies that seem to go unpunished by judges on the pro circuit. Surprisingly, poor pectoral development seems to escape the same type of criticism. Let’s take a stroll back to the “Golden Age” of bodybuilding and whether it be Arnold, Franco, Lou, Reg Park or Chuck Sipes—they all had magnificent chest development.

A government debt is a government claim against personal income and private property – an unpaid tax bill. —Hans F. Sennholz

More Sneaky Taxes on Millennials: City and State Debt

Recently, in the Wall Street Journal, Richard Ravitch, former lieutenant governor of New York and adviser to the bankruptcy judge in Detroit, warns Americans that many of our cities and states haveunfunded pensions, which are on track to becoming a financial and political wreck - just like Detroit.
Millennials, if you live in a city or state that has been "cooking the books," you may be unaware you have a debt and a looming tax. Worse if you live in Chicago, you have a double whammy - both your city and state, Chicago and Illinois, are in trouble.
The problems are ingrained in the political structure of popularly-elected politicians. They give goodies, or promises, to active voters and stick the burden on future generations. That means you, Millennial generation. Ravitch and Paul Volcker, an American economist, have studied and written about the problem in a report titled, the Final Report of the State Budget Crisis Task Force. Through their research, Ravitch and Volcker found:
  • The report's main finding is that in most states and cities the problems are structural and the crisis is deepening.
  • …contributions to employee pension funds are often well below the levels needed to ensure the payment of the benefits that are contractually or constitutionally guaranteed…
  • Sometimes the contributions are not made at all for years at a time.
  • Everyone with a role in determining these contribution levels has an incentive to keep them as low as possible.
  • Politicians don't like to raise taxes to meet future obligations,
  • … public unions would rather take the long-term risk of underfunding rather than face immediate layoffs or benefit reductions.
Deceivingly, cities and states are borrowing money to meet their operating deficits. For example, Chicago, in order to pay for operating expenses, has issued a 75-year lease on its parking meters for nearly $1.2 billion. Wow, is right. Eventually, Millennials and other taxpayers must pay this unpaid, tax bill. Plus, the state of Illinois has an unfunded, public pension liability of $100.5 billion. Has your heart stopped beating? Yes, indeed, more unpaid tax bills, and they keep piling up.
Ravitch suggests the Federal government impose honest accounting principles in exchange for the money sent to our states by the Feds. A better ideas is to end defined pension plans and begin converting all government employees to a defined contribution plan; a pension system owned by the worker that cannot be manipulated by politicians. A widely-held, private savings system is essential for a free and prosperous society, and will avoid a terrible, financial and political wreck. Nobel Laureate Freidrich Hayek stated:
The system of private property is the most important guaranty of freedom, not only for those who own property, but scarcely less for thos ewho do not. It is only because the control of the means of production is divided among many people acting independently that nobody has complete power over us, that we as individuals can decide what to do with ourselves. If all the means of production were vested in a single hand, whether it be nominally that of “society” as a whole or that of a dictator, whoever exercises this control has complete power over us.
Until Millennials and subsequent generations recognize what our federal, state and local governments are currently inflicting on them – pension debt and more debt, their freedom and prosperity will diminish. Only when the young embrace and champion property rights and force politicians to create system of private pension will peace and prosperity return to America.

Democracy and Power 104: Future Debt Burden

A government debt is a government claim against personal income and private property – an unpaid tax bill. - Hans F. Sennholz

Chicago Pensions: Time to Tax the Next Generation

Chicago's government has thrust a huge debt upon it's citizens. Chicago has unfunded pension and medical promises of $33 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Over a number of years, the union leaders funneled big, campaign donations to politicians. In return, Chicago's public employees received lavish benefits. In the short-run, who cared if there wasn't enough money being invested to cover the pension and medical promises? Nearly nobody, and certainly not politicians, union chiefs and the public employees. Always remember, popularly elected politicians always please their voting constituents at the expense of future taxpayers.
Hence, without sufficient money to pay for the pensions of Chicago’s police and firemen, Mayor Rahm Emanuel proposed a gigantic, property tax increase. The tax will bring $588 million in Chicago to be phased in over four years to cover the pensions. Thus today’s property owners will be coerced to pay for the past political manipulations creating Chicago's pension debacle.
Hans Sennholz, a great economist, explains how government debt forces payment on the next generation. “A government debt is a government claim against personal income and private property – an unpaid tax bill.” Again, the citizens of Chicago are being commanded by government to pay additional property taxes – “the unpaid tax bill.”
These Chicago manipulations are a universal political ploy – a modern-day taxation without representation, which is incredibly destructive to America’s future. Other unpaid tax bills include Social Security and Medicare, which are also being obliged upon our children and grandchildren.
