Third World Plunge: Nearly 40 percent of Americans now make less than $20,000 a year - NaturalNews.com

(NaturalNews) The future doesn't look very bright for America's ever-dwindling middle class. The latest figures from the Social Security Administration (SSA) reveal that nearly half of the country now makes less than $28,031 annually, while nearly 40 percent of the population makes less than $20,000 per year, which is well below the middle-class threshold.

To give you a better idea of what this means: An individual working a full-time job at $10 per hour makes roughly $20,000 a year. Most $10-per-hour jobs are in sectors like retail or fast food, which means that nearly half of all working-age individuals in America today are flipping burgers or selling clothes at the mall just to make a living.

While some jobs have admittedly been recovered since the last recession wave, they are not of the same caliber as the jobs that were lost, based on this data. In other words, the jobs that were eliminated tended to pay more than the jobs that replaced them, a trend that continues as the economic state of America continues to decline.

"[I]t has been estimated that the jobs that have been created since the last recession pay an average of 23 percent less than the jobs that were lost," explains Zero Hedge. "We are witnessing the slow-motion destruction of the middle class, and very few of our leaders seem to care."

Americans worse off this year compared to last

The same data suggest that the average yearly wage in the U.S. has increased to $43,041, which would imply that things may be on the up-and-up. But after accounting for inflation, this amount is technically less than it was last year -- down $79, in fact, when measured in terms of 2013 dollars, which were worth more than 2014 dollars.

Compared to 2007 dollars, this represents a $508 loss, illustrating the devastating effects of currency inflation and the corrupt fiat system in general. Among 60 levels of worker pay evaluated in the government report, 59 of those levels saw average pay decreases.

"Flat or declining average pay is a major reason so many Americans feel that the Great Recession never ended for them," adds Zero Hedge, quoting from another source. "A severe job shortage compounds that misery not just for workers but also for businesses trying to profit from selling goods and services."

Obama's Democratic party was then crushed at the polls a month later, losing a net 8 (soon to be 9) Senate seats, at least 12 House seats, as well as three governorships.

Few Signs of Construction at Yujiapu, China's Manhattan Replica - NBC News.com

Few Signs of Construction at Yujiapu, China's Manhattan Replica - NBC News.com

YUJIAPU, China — As President Barack Obama and other world leadersattend the APEC summit in Beijing this week, it’s unlikely their proud hosts will take them to see Manhattan — or at least the Chinese version of it.
China's $50-billion knock-off of the Big Apple sits on a river bend — much like its namesake — near the port city of Tianjin, some 120 miles from Beijing. Complete with its own Rockefeller Center and Twin Towers, it's been billed as the world's largest financial center in the making. But this Manhattan still has a long way to go.
A recent visit shows that construction that began in 2008 on the back of a massive credit boom unleashed in China after the global financial crisis appears to have ground to a halt. While the stunted version of “Rockefeller Center” and its Twin Towers appeared to be complete — both were empty and fenced off.

Construction has ground to a standstill in Yujiapu, a financial district billed as China's version of Manhattan.
"It’s the financial crisis. The impact is big," said one man on the site who preferred not to be identified but said he worked for a transportation company. "I think there are still working on a building over there," he added, pointing down a wide and empty highway, strewn with litter.
As he spoke, fierce gusts of wind howled around the shells of high-rise buildings lining the road, sending plumes of dust and plastic bags into the air.
"They are building stuff that nobody really wants or needs"
Two thick-set security men with shaved heads appeared from the entrance of one building.
"Sorry, sorry, sorry. No, no, no," said one of them, moving to block a camera. "You can’t shoot because it is not ready."
Yujiapu was scheduled for completion in 2019, offering 164 million square feet of office space over an area larger than Manhattan's financial district in a bid to stimulate development of vast residential districts nearby.
Mock-ups of the bright and bustling metropolis envisioned by developers that dot roadside billboards stand in stark contrast to the lifeless cranes beyond, which tell the tale of a building frenzy quickly turning into a bust.
"They are building stuff that nobody really wants or needs — and there will come a day of reckoning," explained Gillem Tulloch, a Hong Kong-based analyst and managing director of GMT Research who has studied the growth of China's "ghost cities" across the country.
After years of boom, property prices in China are falling and credit conditions are tightening. Government debts have ballooned to 240 percent of GDP, raising alarm among analysts.
While many economists dismiss the idea of a financial crisis in China's closed economy because ostensibly the government could turn the credit tap back on, Tulloch expressed doubts over whether Beijing can continue to defy economic gravity.
"Our leading economists in the West were lauding the Soviet-style system from the 1950s up until the 1980s," he said. "They were all wrong. I think it’s the same with China."

President Obama Arrives in Beijing for APEC Summit

NBC NEWS

On Sunday, Chinese President Xi Jinging used the APEC opening to try and reassure about the state of China's slowing economy, saying Beijing has the tools to deal with it, and that it is "not that scary."
Meanwhile, business appeared to be brisk in Yujiapu's Mommy’s Yummy House restaurant though the mood among chain-smoking diners was somber.
When asked about whether business was picking up, the waitress was dismissive. This was the only restaurant to have opened in the area, she barked.
She then brought a "Coca-Cola" to the table. The flat and counterfeit beverage was fitting: a fake coke in a fake Manhattan, in a lonely restaurant at the heart of one of the country’s most expensive and ambitious developments, fast turning into its most dramatic ghost city.

Food Stamp Recipients Top 46 Million for 36th Straight Month | CNS News

(CNSNews.com) - The number of beneficiaries on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program--food stamps--has now topped 46,000,000 for 36 straight months, according to new data released by the Department of Agriculture (USDA).
From September 2011 through August 2014, the latest month for which data is available, the number of persons participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has exceeded 46 million.
Food Stamp Recipients in August
In August 2014, according to USDA, there were 46,484,828 beneficiaries of the SNAP program. That was down slightly—2,060 beneficiaries—from the 46,486,888 who got food stamps in July.
At the same time, the number of households getting food stamps increased from 22,716,152,000 in July to 22,729,389 in August.
Given that there were 115,048,000 households in the country as of August, according to the Census Bureau, 22,729,389 of households on food stamps equaled 19.75 percent of all households in the nation.
Households on food stamps in July got an average of $253.69 in August 2014, and in that month alone program benefits cost taxpayers $5,766,107,973.
The 46,484,828 people getting food stamps in the United States in August continued to outnumber the entire populations of Poland (38,346,279), Argentina (43,024,374) and Ukraine (22,291,413).

Gorbachev Warns World 'On Brink Of New Cold War' - Fox Nation

Gorbachev Warns World 'On Brink Of New Cold War' - Fox Nation

By Frank Jordans, Associated Press
BERLIN (AP) -- Tensions between the major powers have pushed the world closer to a new Cold War, former Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev said Saturday.

The 83-year-old accused the West, particularly the United States, of giving in to "triumphalism" after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the dissolution of the communist bloc a quarter century ago. The result, he said, could partly be seen in the inability of global powers to prevent or resolve conflicts in Yugoslavia, the Middle East and most recently Ukraine.

"The world is on the brink of a new Cold War. Some are even saying that it's already begun," Gorbachev said at an event marking the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, close to the city's iconic Brandenburg Gate.

Liberating the Poor from the Medicaid Ghetto | Heartland Institute

Medicaid is a massive federal-state entitlement program desperately in need of reform. Its mission is to provide health care to the poorest of the nation’s poor ... and thus the poor have the most to gain from positive reform efforts, says Peter Ferrara, a senior fellow for The Heartland Institute and author of a new Heartland Policy Brief, “Liberating the Poor from the Medicaid Ghetto.”
According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which administers Medicaid, federal and state government spending for the program will total $6.56 trillion between 2013 and 2022. Medicaid is already the biggest line item in state budgets, and Medicaid spending will continue to grow, especially in the states that extended the reach of their programs under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. (About half the states enacted the Medicaid expansion provided for under Obamacare, while half did not.)

Sleep paralysis is a phenomenon in which a person, either falling asleep or awakening, temporarily experiences an inability to move, speak or react. It is a transitional state between wakefulness and sleep characterized by complete muscle atonia (muscle weakness). It is often accompanied by terrifying hallucinations (such as an intruder in the room) to which one is unable to react due to paralysis, and physical experiences (such as strong current running through the upper body).
