XLVI.

Mine eye and heart are at a mortal war
How to divide the conquest of thy sight;
Mine eye my heart thy picture's sight would bar,
My heart mine eye the freedom of that right.
My heart doth plead that thou in him dost lie--
A closet never pierced with crystal eyes--
But the defendant doth that plea deny
And says in him thy fair appearance lies.
To 'cide this title is impanneled
A quest of thoughts, all tenants to the heart,
And by their verdict is determined
The clear eye's moiety and the dear heart's part:
As thus; mine eye's due is thy outward part,
And my heart's right thy inward love of heart.

Conservative Retards | The Graph

Conservative Retards | The Graph

There are a considerable number of conservatives currently camped out
in social media who are painfully slow on the uptake. Before the
fauxfended word-police begin chiming in, from thefreedictionary.com:

re-tard

- A person considered to be foolish or socially inept.

Now, with that bit of housekeeping out of the way we can proceed.

After the enormous gains in the 2010 elections and the equally
embarrassing showing in the 2012 elections, one would think
conservatives would have come away a little wiser. Alas many continue to
engage in the same unproductive and unbecoming behavior that gave us
progressives like George W. Bush and Barrack Hussein Obama.

I can think of no better example of this than the mindless drones of
the Twitter Gulag Defense Network. (#TGDN) These folks aren’t just
acting stupid, they’re ENTHUSIASTICALLY stupid. #TGDN is the contrivance
of South Carolina lawyer and reprobate (but I repeat myself) Todd
Kincannon. This single endeavor is like a diamond with its multitudinous
facets of errancy.

Let’s start with the name “Twitter Gulag Defense Network.” The idea
is to have conservatives get on lists and follow each other, thereby
increasing a person’s follower count and rendering them immune to having
their Twitter account suspended. Unfortunately follower count does
absolutely NOTHING to prevent being one from being sent to the gulag.
Conservatives should know this given the excellent series on
#TwitterGulag posted on the Trenches website MONTHS ago.

Gosh. If hashtags, copious amounts of followers, and membership lists
don’t prevent one from being sent to the gulag, why would Kincannon
create #TGDN? Well, it does make for a spiffy crisis that an unsavory
character could use to prop himself up as a savior, n’est-ce pas? Todd
is in fact a small, vainglorious individual that constantly craves
attention from others.  Now he has it.

And why would so many people follow Todd without questioning his
motives or the effectiveness of #TGDN? Clearly we what we have is a cult
of personality. Todd is very careful to use his best photo in his
avatar, position his motives as pure, and demonize and block anyone who
dares to question TGDN. This type of narcissistic and charismatic
authority has been well documented by Jerry Wilson’s writings regarding  Ali Akbar. Principles be damned, Todd is exciting, bombastic, and bawdy. A perverse Pied Piper to lead the unquestioning masses.

If anyone would actually take just a moment to scrutinize Mr.
Kincannon’s personal behavior I doubt very seriously that he would be
selected to shepherd the conservative movement. A quick perusal of his
timeline will find it laced with gratuitous profanity and sexual
comments. Not that there aren’t plenty of boorish timelines on Twitter,
but this just seems to be the tip of the iceberg with Kincannon. The
Piper also appears to enjoy sexting young women photos of his “flute.” It doesn’t appear to be an isolated incident either.

Now that Todd has amassed an unthinking horde that would make ACORN proud,
he is turning them against anyone he sees as a threat and purging his
list of dissenters. Initially his calls were to spam-block the targets
that he specified with the intent of sending the offending account to
the Twitter gulag. (irony?) More recently in his benevolence he has
called to simply block the offending accounts (selected by him of
course) rather than spam-block them. How noble.

Ultimately one has to ask, how does any of this activity relating to
TGDN help conservatism and promote our founding principles? If #TGDN is
trending, does it reduce the deficit? If you block enough liberals or
dissenting voices, will it balance the budget? Can you gain enough
followers to repeal Obamacare? Can you play enough hashtag games to get
the Federal Reserve audited? Of course not. You’re all just fiddling
while the Republic burns.

Conservatives need to shed the current neocon paradigm, reconnect
with their founding principles, and expand into other outlets to share
those principles. They did it briefly in 2010 with the fleeting Tea
Party movement and lost it again in 2012 when that movement was
co-opted. It’s time to move on from the Tea Party and juvenile Twitter
circle-jerks to bigger and better venues.

Unfortunately too many conservatives are back playing hashtag games,
idolizing perverts and squelching free speech. None of which will
restore the Republic. Retarded.

Elf - Mythical Creatures Guide

Elf - Mythical Creatures Guide: In order to protect themselves against malevolent elves, Scandinavians could use a so-called Elf cross (Alfkors, Älvkors or Ellakors), which was carved into buildings or other objects. It existed in two shapes, one was a pentagram and it was still frequently used in early 20th century Sweden as painted or carved onto doors, walls and household utensils in order to protect against elves. The second form was an ordinary cross carved onto a round or oblong silver plate.

Protest the Hero Have Crowd-Sourced $125,000 for Their New Album in Less Than 24 Hours | MetalSucks

Canadian prog-metallers Protest the Hero have completed their contract with Vagrant Records and have decided to crowd-source funding to record their fourth album using IndieGogo. That in itself is news worth reporting on, as Protest the Hero seemingly came out of nowhere in 2008 to take the prog metal world by storm and have been near and dear to our hearts ever since.

But what’s even more impressive is this: in between right now and the time late last night when no less than five Suckalos emailed us about the project, the amount the band has raised so far has jumped from around $60,000 to $108,000 out of the $125,000 total they’re seeking! When I first looked at the page at around 10:30pm last night they were already up to $55k; by the time I’d finished watching the 5-minute pitch video and reading through the packages they’re offering the total was already up to $58k! For shits and giggles I hit “refresh” again right away, and the total jumped again by around $300. And in the 15 minutes it’s taken me to put this article together the total has risen another $1,000. So, uh, yeah, these guys are going to have NO PROBLEM at all raising the funds they’re seeking and then some. By the time you read this they’ll probably have done it.

Liberals Have Robin Hood All Wrong | Ashbrook

Liberals Have Robin Hood All Wrong | Ashbrook

Editorial
April 2002
by Andrew E. Busch

Tax day has come and gone again, leaving millions of Americans scratching their heads at the complexity and irrationality of the federal tax code in an annual ritual of frustration. To add to the mix of the absurd, Americans are increasingly hearing calls from congressional Democrats and their political base for a postponement or outright cancellation of the tax cut enacted last year. Democrats have thus re-confirmed that they are now the party of Herbert Hoover’s fiscal policy; a tax cut that passed when the economy seemed stronger is now under fire when the economy is staggering out of a recession, exactly when a tax cut is needed most.

Of course, liberals prefer to see themselves as moral descendents of Robin Hood, rather than intellectual heirs of Hooverism. Democrats are frequently heard making the Robin Hood analogy in reverse, claiming that the Bush administration’s budget, including tax cuts and social spending restraint, would take from the poor and give to the rich. Leaving aside the detail that a tax cut allowing someone to keep more of his earnings is not “giving” him anything that is not already his, the adoption of Robin Hood as the patron saint of liberalism cries out for correction. To the contrary, it is conservatives who should extol Mr. Hood as one of their own. All one has to do is to consult the Disney films’ animated version of Robin Hood—as I did with my two small children last weekend—to find at least four reasons why one would not find Robin Hood voting for Al Gore or John Kerry if his feathered hat depended on it.
  • As one wag perceptively pointed out some time ago, Robin Hood’s claim to fame was not that he took from the rich to give to the poor, but that he took from the tax collector and gave back to the people their own money. The central issue was overtaxation, and Robin Hood was most emphatically not on the side of the bureaucracy. The ultimate bad guy was Prince John, the very caricature of greedy, arrogant government; the proximate bad guy was the Sheriff of Nottingham, the ruthless enforcer whose audit strategy was even more intimidating than that of the IRS. The victims were the taxpayers whose property was confiscated to feed John’s insatiable lust for higher revenues. As Robin Hood speeds to its exciting conclusion, Friar Tuck adopts as his battle cry, “Praise the Lord and pass the tax rebate!”
  • Robin Hood was waging a struggle not only against overtaxation but against illegitimate, unconstitutional government. As the characters ridicule “Prince John, the phony king of England,” they are staking their fight on the view that John has overstepped his legal and constitutional bounds. He had, in other words, gone beyond the exercise of powers rightfully his. Unimpressed with Prince John’s living constitution, which bore a disturbing resemblance to a regime of raw, unconstrained power, Robin Hood and his merry band seem to prefer a stricter construction.
  • At the same time, they are emboldened to resist John’s usurpation by a sense that acts of government must be tested not only against the written law but against natural law. John has violated not only the law of England, he has waged war against the law of God. The disrespect held by John and his minions for the law of God—or, to put it another way, their attempt to elevate his rule above any sort of limit, human or divine—is epitomized when the Sheriff of Nottingham robs even Friar Tuck’s church to pad the revenues. The idea of natural law can, of course, be put to a variety of uses, not all of which conservatives find agreeable, but one of the most distinct features of the modern left is a moral nihilism which denies the possibility of higher objective truth, and consequently denies the possibility of inherent limits on the ambitions of the state. To the extent that Robin Hood sought to hold John’s regime to an unwritten standard of limitation and accountability, modern liberals can hardly claim him as one of their own.
  • Not least, Robin Hood and his band remained loyal to the duly constituted authority, King Richard the Lionhearted. And what was King Richard off doing while John was playing at home? Fighting Saracens in a crusade to save the Christian holy sites in the Middle East from Muslim conquest. Not much one for the aggressive secularism and the multicultural platitudes that serve as the de facto religion of American liberalism, that Richard.
So what do we make of Robin Hood, properly interpreted? A supporter of low taxes, a government limited by strict constitutional construction and natural law, and offensive military expeditions against the Saddam Husseins of his time. The next time Ted Kennedy takes the floor of the U.S. Senate to demand higher taxes in the name of Robin Hood, let a prize go to the first to respond: “Praise the Lord and pass the tax rebate!”

Obama and the Chinese infiltration

Obama and the Chinese infiltration: Americans have lived in relative safety and comfort for a very long time. It has been nearly 70 years since the nation operated in a modality that was geared toward its very survival, such as in the two World Wars. None of the military escapades in which we’ve since engaged possessed the gravity of those, and economically we have not suffered a calamity since the Great Depression matching that period.

Hospitals illegally firing nurses for refusing flu vaccines in violation of state law, Civil Rights Act: If you live in the United States and work in the healthcare field, your personal freedom to make your own healthcare decisions may soon be on the chopping block, that is if it has not already been nixed. According to reports, an increasing number of hospitals and healthcare facilities across the country are caving to government propaganda pressuring them to illegally terminate all healthcare workers who refuse influenza vaccines, an authoritarian trend that openly violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as well as state law.

Sen. Rand Paul Introduces Default Protection Act

Sen. Rand Paul Introduces Default Protection Act: On Tuesday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced the Default Protection Act, which would require President Barack Obama to "prioritize federal revenue to interest on the national debt."

Paul added that he believed "we should stand and fight for a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution before we raise the debt ceiling."

The United States hit its debt limit on December 31, 2012, and the measures the U.S. Treasury have taken to make the country's payments are expected to be exhausted shortly before March of this year.

Paul's bill, in an attempt to remove the chance of a complete government default, would prioritize which federal programs should be held at the highest priority to continue receiving government funding while the country works to pay down the interest on the debt.

Some of my Republican colleagues in the House have decided to surrender to the Democrats’ annual plan to increase the debt ceiling," Paul said in a statement. "My legislation takes the possibility of default off the table so we can continue to push for fiscal restraint. There is no reason the government would – or should – responsibly consider the idea of default."

The Economics of Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Economics of Martin Luther King, Jr.: When the Soviets invaded Afghanistan, they didn't collectivize agriculture, but they did collectivize agricultural water distribution. Within months, there was no water at all, as centuries-old private distribution channels silted up.

Only a capitalistic water system – with private property rights in water and freely adjusting prices – can ensure that there is enough water for all who want it, instead of allocation through non-price political battles with the most powerful pressure groups winning out.

Coheed and Cambria - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Coheed announced via their website that the upcoming album would be a double album called "The Afterman." The first part, titled The Afterman: Ascension, was released on October 9, 2012 and the second, titled The Afterman: Descension, will be released on February 5, 2013. It has been produced by Coheed and Cambria, with Michael Birnbaum and Chris Bittner. Va. lawmaker who brandished AK-47 during legislative session was disbarred following assault, death threat | The Daily Caller

Va. lawmaker who brandished AK-47 during legislative session was disbarred following assault, death threat | The Daily Caller: A Virginia lawmaker who drew gasps from his colleagues when he brandished a borrowed AK-47 during an anti-gun speech Thursday was found guilty in 2002 of committing a vicious 1999 assault, was sanctioned for legal misconduct while prosecuting a rape case, spent six months in jail for contempt of a federal court, and saw his law license revoked in 2003.

Democratic Delegate Joseph Morrissey brought the rifle to the floor of the House of Delegates to demonstrate how easy it is to carry firearms in Virginia. Republican Delegate Todd Gilbert interrupted Morrissey’s speech to ask him to remove his finger from inside the gun’s trigger-guard — a basic gun-safety practice.

“I don’t think you should be able to possess an assault rifle,” Morrissey told ABC News on Friday.

But while Morrissey introduced a gun-control bill Thursday aimed at reducing criminal violence in Virginia, he has a history that involves physical violence of another kind.

Ekhart Tolle - The Power Of Now (Audio Book) (download torrent) - TPB
This is an audio book in MP3 format.

The Power of Now has been widely recognized as one of the most influential spiritual books of our time. A #1 New York Times bestseller, it has been translated into over 30 languages. The book has helped countless people around the globe awaken to the spiritual dimension in their lives, find inner peace, increased joy and more harmonious relationships

To make the journey into The Power of Now we will need to leave our analytical mind and its false created self, the ego, behind. From the beginning of the first chapter we move rapidly into a significantly higher altitude where one breathes a lighter air, the air of the spiritual. Although the journey is challenging, Eckhart Tolle offers simple language and a question and answer format to guide us. The words themselves are the signposts.

For many of us there are new discoveries to be made along the way: we are not our mind; we can find our way out of psychological pain; authentic human power is found by surrendering to the Now. We also find out that the body is actually one of the keys to entry into a state of inner peace, as are the silence and space all around us. Indeed, access is everywhere available. These access points, or portals, can all be used to bring us into the Now, the present moment, where problems do not exist. It is here we find our joy and are able to embrace our true selves. It is here we discover that we are already complete and perfect.

Many of us will find that our biggest obstacle to this realization is our relationships, especially our intimate relationships. But again, we are in new territory and all is not what it had seemed before. We come to see that our relationships are yet another doorway into spiritual enlightenment if we use them wisely, meaning if we use them to become more conscious and therefore more loving human beings. The result? Real communion between self and others.

If we are able to be fully present and take each step in the Now; if we are able to feel the reality of such things as the inner-body, surrender, forgiveness, and the Unmanifested, we will be opening ourselves to the transforming experience of The Power of Now.
