Americans for Tax Reform : President Obama alters middle class tax promise: President Barack Obama has altered his 2008 “firm pledge” that no family making less than $250,000 per year would see “any form of tax increase.”

President Barack Obama has altered his 2008 “firm pledge” that no family making less than $250,000 per year would see “any form of tax increase.” Obama has now limited the pledge to merely “income taxes” – and only for “next year.”

Bill Maher takes a subtle jab at MSNBC | The Daily Caller

Bill Maher takes a subtle jab at MSNBC | The Daily Caller: In 2010, after his so-called “Rally to Restore Sanity,” MSNBC host Rachel Maddow took issue with Comedy Central host Jon Stewart for comparing MSNBC to Fox News. It was a comparison that even HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher criticized at the time.

But almost two years later, Maher is now at least admitting MSNBC serves a “counterweight” Fox News. In an interview with The Patriot Ledger (Mass.) reporter Jack Encarnacao published on Thursday, Maher appeared to suggest that some MSNBC hosts are overzealously promoting their views:

  • There’s a place for it. For a while, there was only Fox News. I’m glad MSNBC emerged as a counterweight. As much as I’m very fond of all of the people at MSNBC, Chris Matthews and Rachel (Maddow) and Lawrence O’Donnell, they’re all good people. But if I watch it, like, for a whole day, I want to marry Ann Coulter and join the tea party.

Union leaders oppose bill that increases their members’ pay | The Daily Caller

Union leaders oppose bill that increases their members’ pay | The Daily Caller: Democrats have long been the party that punishes success — Senate Democrats are advocating for the “Buffett Rule,” a millionaires’ tax, while a pillar of President Obama’s re-election campaign is that people making $250,000 should give the government more money. Conservatives correctly worry that prohibitive tax rates deter hard work by removing compensation incentives, effectively capping workers’ wages.

Unbeknownst to most people, explicit wage caps are already in place for nearly 8 million unionized, middle-class workers — nearly all union contracts set both a wage floor and ceiling. Looking to eliminate artificial wage caps, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Rep. Todd Rokita (R-IN) introduced the RAISE Act, legislation which would keep in place the union-negotiated minimum wage but eliminate the maximum wage.

The American Spectator : A Second Term Will Be Terminal

The American Spectator : A Second Term Will Be Terminal: The Worst Economic Recovery Since the Great Depression: Confirmed
Last Friday's jobs report indicated the most commonly cited U3 unemployment rate remains stuck at 8.2%. That makes 41 straight months of unemployment over 8%, which the Joint Economic Committee of Congress confirms is the worst recovery from a recession since the Great Depression almost 75 years ago. The total number of Americans unemployed actually rose over the last 3 months by 76,000, 54 months after the recession started, and 3 years after it was supposedly over. Since the Great Depression, and before this last recession, recessions in America have lasted 10 months on average, with the longest previously lasting 16 months.

Battle of Adrianople: Goths Destroy East Roman Army | The American Legion's BurnPit: On August 6, the Roman army arrived on the outskirts of Adrianople. They build a lightly fortified camp over the next two days to guard his baggage and treasury; apparently the people of Adrianople did not allow them inside the city walls. Early in the afternoon of August 8, Valens receives further information stating that the Gothic horde made camp about 15 miles east of Adrianople. Additional reports say the Gothic horde has no more than 10,000 warriors within it.

Obama Campaign Gears Up to Suppress Military Votes in Presidential Election

Obama Campaign Gears Up to Suppress Military Votes in Presidential Election: It was recently revealed by Breitbart.com that Team Obama was trying to suppress the military vote in Ohio with a baseless lawsuit.

Apparently, allowing our troops to vote three days in advance of the election due to such things as deployments and training wasn’t “fair” to the other voters.

When Team Obama got their hand caught in the cookie jar trying to suppress an obvious pro-conservative, pro-military voting bloc (i.e. votes for Mitt Romney), they tried to spin it, saying Romney was trying to create a false issue.

Our own Boss Emeritus made an appearance on Fox and Friends this morning to give vent to rising conservative frustration over Team Romney’s response to the ad called “despicable” by liberal commentator Brent Budowsky, “scurrilous” by Time’s Michael Crowley, and a violation of decency by Crowley’s colleague Mark Halperin and the Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler. Noting that the core of the Priorities USA Action super-PAC ad is the same Joe Soptic that Barack Obama’s official campaign introduced in an ad of their own and a conference call arranged by the same Stephanie Cutter who tried playing “Mission Impossible” by disavowing any knowledge of Soptic yesterday, Michelle Malkin  urged Romney to start playing offense and initiate legal proceedings for the obvious and illegal coordination between Obama’s campaign and the super-PAC (via The Right Scoop):

Obama Prepares to Drop Tax-Increase Bomb on Job Creators

Obama Prepares to Drop Tax-Increase Bomb on Job Creators: Today, in yet another desperate attempt to win a news cycle as opposed to do his job and what’s best for the country, Obama will use the high-profile setting of the Rose Garden to call for a huge tax increase on those making $250,000 or more, which will, of course, hit who knows how many small business owners. Naturally, Obama and his Media Palace Guards will spin today's announcement as a call to keep in place the Bush-era tax cuts for those making under $250,000 a year (a middle class tax cut), but it's really a call to raise taxes on our nation's job creators.

Obama Prepares to Drop Tax-Increase Bomb on Job Creators

Obama Prepares to Drop Tax-Increase Bomb on Job Creators: President Obama is obviously panicked. Last month Obama and his supporters spent a lot more than Mitt Romney, but even with that cash advantage and the media on their side, the polls haven't budged. Moreover, the President and his campaign have been running around frantically trying to find something that will stick to Romney, be it provable lies about his outsourcing or outright smears involving offshore accounts. Still, Obama can't get above 47% and Romney hasn't even started campaigning in earnest or spending the $160 million he has on hand.

KOTOV SYNDROME Lyrics - RISE AGAINST

KOTOV SYNDROME Lyrics - RISE AGAINST

They're high on the watchtower
Keeping the peace, whatever that means
'Cause you see the world through
Cross hairs and TV's, don't you?

Ten foot walls built around us
White picket death, so quiet, so safe
But if we fall, there will be nothing and no one to catch
So sit back and watch as we

Spin out of control
Spin out of control
Try to recover but collide with each other
We spin out of control

Something I cannot change
I was born in a place that lives by the sword
And thus to it's blade we're condemned
Don't you understand why we scream no more?

My dreams are of children
Orphaned by blood spilled at these hands
And here on the graves of the innocent
We raise our flag

Spin out of control
Spin out of control
Try to recover, but collide with each other
We spin out of control

Somethings you don't forgive, somethings you don't forget
Sometimes the fate you suffer is so much worse than death
We're way off course now and we're drifting out to sea
So cut the anchor on your heart to be set free, set free, set free

Spin out of control
Spin out of control

Spin out of control
Spin out of control
Try to recover, we have to recover
We fight or crash one after the other
Spin out of control

AlphaDictionary Free Online Dictionaries * Corrected List of Philias - Fears, Loves, Obsessions: Our list of philias was created from a corrected list of phobias by simply replacing phobia with philia. Theoretically, this should work, although there are some things that we don't love. This does not mean that the philia word is not possible, so we have simply generated the list to remind ourselves that obsessive love is as real a potential human condition as is obsessive fear. Into the light: Kids from Russian subterranean sect surface after 10 years underground — RT

Led by a self-proclaimed prophet, more than 70 members of a reclusive Muslim sect, including 20 children, have spent a decade in an eight-level catacomb in Russia’s Tatarstan without access to education, healthcare or even daylight.
The sect has been discovered by authorities, who were investigating the assassination of Tatarstan’s top Muslim cleric, a staunch critic of radical forms of Islam.
Its founder, 83-year-old Faizrakhman Satarov, who claims he is the last Muslim prophet, ordered his followers to live in catacombs they had dug under his estate in the suburbs of the city of Kazan.
There they lived, completely isolated from the outside world, in insanitary cells without light, heat or ventilation. The investigators have reportedly found extremist books in the compound.
The authorities had to remove 19 under-age children and temporarily place them in care as conditions in the bunker were unsuitable for living in. The children, aged between one and 17, had never left Satarov’s estate, and some had never even seen daylight. Doctors are now examining their condition.
Russia’s Children’s Ombudsman, Pavel Astakhov, said that their parents will have to undergo special treatment before they can be reunited with their children. “Unfortunately the rehabilitation of sect victims takes a long time and requires the participation of professionals. Parents who are members of the sect first have to undergo proper treatment and only after that may be allowed back to their children,” he told RIA Novosti.
Self-proclaimed prophet Satarov has been charged with negligence and warned that if he does not end his extremist activities, the sect will be outlawed. He had forbidden his followers, who called themselves “muammin," from the Arabic for "believers," from receiving any medical assistance and children were not allowed to attend schools. Thus, the leader of the sect had denied them their constitutional rights, Irina Petrova, assistant to the state attorney, told RIA Novosti.
Satarov used to be a top cleric in the neighboring region of Bashkiria. However in the 1990s he proclaimed himself a prophet and founded the sect, an act that that goes against the principles of Islam, as it recognizes only the Prophet Muhammad.
Sect members do not recognize the state or laws and do not leave the territory of their compound. They are only allowed to read the Koran and Satarov’s preachings.
They have decided to eliminate our community, decided to wage war against Allah. They won’t defeat Allah,” one of the sect’s members told Vesti news channel.

Obama confidently stated that the money would be re-spent, sloshing around as though the nation were prosperous and confident; or if it didn't, it would be the fault of the mess he inherited. Oddly, much of the emergency spending was deferred to occur during the 2010 campaigns.

Kevlar Tires Now Required to Traverse 'Spear-Like' GMO Crops: The news surrounding GMO crops continues to get further and further outlandish as the crops are increasingly mutated and sprayed with a medley of harsh pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides. The latest news comes from an unlikely source — an automotive publication known as Autoblog. The website reports that farmers who have opted to plant Monsanto’s genetically modified seeds have run into one daunting problem (outside of decreased yields and an extremely higher risk of disease): little ‘spear-like’ stalks from the harvested GMOs are absolutely wreaking havoc on the heavy duty tractor tires.

Described by one farmer as a ‘field of little spears’, farmers are now turning to kevlar tires. In case you’re not aware, kevlar is the same material used in bulletproof vests to protect from gun bullets.

Bottled Water is NOT linked to More Tooth Decay, Study Shows

Bottled Water is NOT linked to More Tooth Decay, Study Shows

“While bottled water users had significantly lower fluoride intakes, this study found no conclusive evidence of an association with increased caries,” according to “An investigation of bottled water use and caries in the mixed dentition,” published in the Journal of Public Health Dentistry.
American Dental Association spokesperson Dr.Jonathan Shenkin said, "There has been no research to show using bottled water causes tooth decay," in a Healthday.com article.
Dr. Burton Edelstein agrees. He is president of the DC-based Children's Dental Health Project and Columbia University dentistry professor who describes the increasing prevalence of tooth decay among young children as "alarming."

Tooth decay rates are soaring despite 67 years of fluoridation, 57 years of fluoridated toothpaste, a glut of fluoridated dental products, and a fluoride-saturated food supply. The Pew Foundation said that “preventable dental conditions were the primary reason for 830,590 ER visits by Americans in 2009—a 16 percent increase from 2006.”

No US child is fluoride-deficient. But up to 60% show signs of fluoride-overdose (discolored teeth), according to the Centers for Disease Control. The U.S. Surgeon General reports that excessive fluoride increases susceptibility to cavities.
To avoid crippling skeletal fluorosis, the Environmental Protection Agency sets 4 parts per million (ppm) or 4 milligrams per quart of water as a “safe” water level.. Many Americans exceed that amount from all sources. The Iowa Fluoride Study's principal investigator, Steven Levy, found that some babies ingest 6 milligrams of fluoride daily. Furthermore, Levy found 90% of 3-month-olds consumed over their recommended fluoride levels.
"There is no specific nutritional requirement for fluoride...,” Levy et al. admit.

Levy also found:

-- 77% of soft drinks had fluoride levels greater than 0.60 ppm
-- two ounces of baby chicken food provides baby's maximum dose
-- foods high in fluoride -- teas, dry infant cereals, dried chicken, and seafood
-- grape juice, especially white, contains very high fluoride levels
-- 42% of juice and juice drinks tested revealed unlabeled fluoride levels greater than 0.60 ppm
-- cereals processed in fluoridated areas contain from 3.8 to 6.3 ppm fluoride

The USDA provides a database of fluoride contents of food http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/Data/Fluoride/Fluoride.html

Reports that bottled-water drinkers risk more cavities are unsubstantiated. The Wall Street Journal reported, "Little research has been done on the use of bottled water and risk of tooth decay," dental experts concede.
"For children's dental health measures,it was found that fluoridation rates were not significantly related to the measures of either caries or overall condition of the teeth for urban or rural areas." (West Virginia University Rural Health Research Center, 2012)
"It may...be that fluoridation ofdrinking water does not have a strong protective effect against early childhood caries (cavities)," reports dentist Howard Pollick, University of California, and colleagues, in the Winter 2003 Journal of Public Health Dentistry.
Even when fluoridated water is the most consumed item, cavities are extensive when diets are poor, according to Caries Research.

Burt and colleagues studied low-income African-American adults, 14-years-old and over, living in fluoridated Detroit, Michigan. Yet, 83% of this population has severe tooth decay and diets high in sugars and fats, and low in fruits and vegetables.

"The most frequently reported food on a daily basis was [fluoridated] tap water," write Burt's research team. Second were [probably fluoridated] soft drinks and third were potato chips (which can contain fluoride-containing pesticide residues).

Tooth decay in fluoridated Detroit's toddlers' teeth is also shocking. Almost all of Detroit's five-year-olds have cavities and most of them go unfilled.
The CDC and the scientific literature now tells us that ingesting fluoride does not reduce tooth decay.  So it’s no surprise that drinking fluoride-free bottled water is not linked to higher rates of tooth decay and that people who drink fluoridated tap water are not experiencing less tooth decay.

White House approved reversal of welfare reform | The Daily Caller

White House approved reversal of welfare reform | The Daily Caller: The White House’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approved the controversial July 12 rule that allow states to opt out of the successful, bipartisan and popular 1996 welfare reform law that required people on welfare to also work to maintain those benefits.

Both OMB and Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius approved the new rules, Kenneth Wolfe, the department’s deputy director of public affairs, told The Daily Caller.

The department will not be holding a press conference about the rules, which remove a core element of the successful reform that halved the taxpayers’ welfare caseload.

That's excusable, since the AP made it look like a small story, and it happened on the opposite side of the continent from most WaPo readers. But the local CBS affiliate ran its own version of the story without revealing that the protestors were part of the Democrat-supported OWS movement.

Reign of Terror - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Reign of Terror - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Reign of Terror (5 September 1793 – 28 July 1794) (the latter is date 10 Thermidor, year II of the French Revolutionary Calendar),[1] also known simply as The Terror (French: la Terreur), was a period of violence that occurred after the onset of the French Revolution, incited by conflict between rival political factions, the Girondins and the Jacobins, and marked by mass executions of "enemies of the revolution." The death toll ranged in the tens of thousands, with 16,594 executed by guillotine (2,639 in Paris),[2] and another 25,000 in summary executions across France.[3]
The guillotine (called the "National Razor") became the symbol of the revolutionary cause, strengthened by a string of executions: Marie Antoinette, King Louis XVI, the Girondins, Philippe Égalité (Louis Philippe II, Duke of Orléans), and Madame Roland, as well as many others, such as pioneering chemist Antoine Lavoisier, lost their lives under its blade. During 1794, revolutionary France was beset with conspiracies by internal and foreign enemies. Within France, the revolution was opposed by the French nobility, which had lost its inherited privileges. The Roman Catholic Church was generally against the Revolution, which had turned the clergy into employees of the state and required they take an oath of loyalty to the nation (through the Civil Constitution of the Clergy). In addition, the First French Republic was engaged in a series of wars with neighboring powers intent on crushing the revolution to prevent its spread.
The extension of civil war and the advance of foreign armies on national territory produced a political crisis and increased the rivalry between the Girondins and the more radical Jacobins. The latter were eventually grouped in the parliamentary faction called the Mountain, and they had the support of the Parisian population. The French government established the Committee of Public Safety, which took its final form on 6 September 1793 in order to suppress internal counter-revolutionary activities and raise additional French military forces.
Through the Revolutionary Tribunal, the Terror's leaders exercised broad dictatorial powers and used them to instigate mass executions and political purges. The repression accelerated in June and July 1794, a period called "la Grande Terreur" (the Great Terror), and ended in the coup of 9 Thermidor Year II (27 July 1794), leading to the Thermidorian Reaction, in which several protagonists of the Reign of Terror were executed, including Saint-Just and Robespierre.

Articles: The Real Price of Middle Eastern Oil: By Shoshana Bryen & Stephen D. Bryen

American gasoline is cheap at the pump because consumers pay only for the oil, refining, and transportation to market -- plus tax. What we don't calculate is what the United States spends to defend the oil in the ground or the sea lanes that allow it to be shipped from the Middle East. We don't calculate the perversion of American principles as we coddle dictators to ensure they don't turn off the taps. Factoring those in makes the use of imported oil for transportation fuel much more expensive and distasteful.

Tennessee Democratic Party disavows Senate nominee | The Tennessean | tennessean.com: The party of Cordell Hull, Estes Kefauver and Al Gore Sr. and Jr. won’t have a standard-bearer — or at least not one it can stomach — in Tennessee’s next U.S. Senate race.

Less than 24 hours after a man espousing conservative and libertarian views surprised the state’s political scene by winning the Democratic nomination, the Tennessee Democratic Party disavowed him, saying he’s part of an anti-gay hate group.

The party said Friday that it would do nothing to help Mark Clayton, 35, who received nearly twice as many votes as his closest challenger in Thursday’s seven-candidate primary, winning the right to challenge Republican U.S. Sen. Bob Corker in November.
