Saudi police break up protest at women's campus: report - Yahoo! News Canada

Saudi police break up protest at women's campus: report - Yahoo! News Canada: Saudi authorities have ordered a probe after more than 50 women students were hurt when security forces dispersed a campus protest this week, media and a local official said on Friday.

On Wednesday members of the religious police and law enforcement officers used water cannons to break up a sit-in by women students at the Abha University in the south of Saudi Arabia, the Sebaq news website reported.

The students had staged a sit-in to protest against what they said was a pile-up or rubbish on the campus and a break down in hygienic conditions, Sebaq said.

Iraqi teenagers stoned to death for "emo" haircuts | Al Akhbar English

Iraqi teenagers stoned to death for "emo" haircuts | Al Akhbar English

At least 90 Iraqi teenagers with "emo" appearances have been stoned to death by religious extremists in Baghdad in the past month after an inflammatory interior ministry statement dubbed it "devil worshiping", activists said.
Iraq's Moral Police released a chilling statement on the interior ministry's website condemning the "emo phenomenon" among Iraqi youth, disturbingly declaring its intent to "eliminate" the trend.
"The 'Emo phenomenon' or devil worshiping is being followed by the Moral Police who have the approval to eliminate [the phenomenon] as soon as possible since it's detrimentally affecting the society and becoming a danger," the statement read.
"They wear strange, tight clothes that have pictures on them such as skulls and use stationary that are shaped as skulls. They also wear rings on their noses and tongues, and do other strange activities," it continued.
Religious extremists caught onto the interior ministry statement, and have been harassing and killing teenagers with "strange" or "emo" appearances.
A group of armed men dressed in civilian clothing led dozens of teenagers to secluded areas a few days ago, stoned them to death, and then disposed their bodies in garbage dumpsters across the capital, according to activists.
The armed men are said to belong to “one of the most extremist religious groups” in Iraq.
“First they throw concrete blocks at the boy's arms, then at his legs, then the final blow is to his head, and if he is not dead then, they start all over again,” one person who managed to escape told Al-Akhbar.
Iraq's moral police was granted approval by the Ministry of Education to enter Baghdad schools and pinpoint students with such appearances, according to the interior ministry's statement.
The exact death toll remains unclear, but Hana al-Bayaty of Brussels Tribunal, an NGO dealing with Iraqi issues, said the current figure ranges "between 90 and 100."
"What's most disturbing about this is that they're so young," she said.
Al-Bayaty said the killings appear to have been carried out by extremist Shia militias in mostly poor Shia neighborhoods and said she suspected "there's complicity of the Ministry of Interior in the killings."
Photos of the victims were released on Facebook, causing panic and fear among Iraqi students.
A young man with long hair expressed alarm at the government-ordained harassment of teenagers with Western appearances.
“I have long hair but that doesn't mean I'm an Emo. I'm not less of a man if I have long hair. Let's not say that if I have long hair, I'm a homosexual, but I have long hair because this is my style, this is me," he told Iraq's Al-Sharqiya television network.
Below is the full Al-Sharqiya report in Arabic:
Safiyyah al-Suhail, an MP, said on Thursday that "some students have been recently arrested because they were wearing American jeans or had Western haircuts."
The interior ministry has not disclosed the number of teenage victims, but released a follow-up statement on Thursday warning extremists "not to step on public freedom of Iraqis."
News of the gruesome deaths drew a stern reaction from Iraq's prominent Shia cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, who criticized the stoning of the young men as "an act of terrorism."
Below is the full English translation of the Iraqi interior ministry's inflammatory statement (original Arabic here):
The Director of the Moral Police of the Interior Ministry released a statement, saying "The 'Emo phenomenon' or devil worshiping is being followed by the Moral Police who have the approval to eliminate [the phenomenon] as soon as possible since it's detrimentally affecting the society and becoming a danger."
'Emo' comes from the English word 'emotional' and the phenomenon is popular among teenagers not only in Iraq, but in most societies. They use their appearances and movements as a method to express their emotions and embody their will and their view of life in their behavior.
Colonel Mushtaq Taleb al-Mahemdawi said: "The Emo Phenomenon was discovered a while back by members of our force in Baghdad. A report has been made and given to the Ministry of Interior to receive an approval to carry on with the investigation and to know how to eliminate the phenomenon."
He added: "The Ministry of Interior took this situation very seriously and received an approval from the Ministry of Education to set a plan under my full supervision and to allow us to enter schools in the capital."
"There are some cases of the spread of this phenomenon specifically among schools in Baghdad, but we are facing great difficulty in the lack of women on the force who would allow us to carry the investigation more accurately since the phenomenon is more popular among girls between the ages of 14 and 18."
"They wear strange, tight clothes that have pictures on them such as skulls and use stationary that are shaped as skulls. They also wear rings on their noses and tongues, and do other strange activities."

Bombshell: Origins Of #Occupy Wall Street Now Linked To Obama Through Bell at Pat Dollard: Remember we were told that #OccupyWallStreet was an independent, grass-roots movement started by a rag-tag group of private citizens. Bullshit. The whole thing is an Obama/Van Jones et al planned maneuver to produce civil unrest, chaos, an American Bolshevik revolution, and the end of capitalism.

Obama and Jones, who has notoriously and mysteriously backed the movement since before it started, took their lessons, and these terms, from Bell, and designed the movement with both in mind. That’s why these terms and ideas of Bell’s form the very nucleus of the Occupy movement and its ideology.

The 10 Terrible Provisions of Obamacare You May Not Have Heard Of

The 10 Terrible Provisions of Obamacare You May Not Have Heard Of
Obamacare includes such a variety and volume of negative policies that it’s hard to keep track of them all. Here is a list of 10 terrible provisions that every American should be aware of:
  1. It increases taxes on families earning over $250,000. In 2013, the employee portion of the Medicare payroll tax will increase from 1.45 percent to 2.35 percent for families earning $250,000 or more and individuals earning $200,000 or more. The income threshold is not indexed for inflation, so more and more middle-income families will be hit by the tax hike as time goes on.
  1. It adds a new tax to investment income. The increased payroll tax rate is also applied to high-earners’ investment income for the first time beginning in 2013. It will hit capital gains, dividends, rents, and royalties, discouraging investment and harming economic growth.
  2. It puts new limitations on those with HSAs and FSAs. Starting in 2012, Obamacare restricts the products that consumers may purchase with a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Savings Account (FSA)—such as over-the-counter medications—and increases the penalty for such non-qualified uses of HSAs. It also limits the amount taxpayers may deposit into an FSA to $2,500 a year in 2013.
  3. It adds a new tax on those who purchase medical devices. In 2013, a 2.3 percent excise tax will be applied to medical devices, causing a $28.5 billion tax hike on medical device manufacturers. The industry will pay for this tax by reducing jobs and passing additional costs on to consumers.
  4. It penalizes marriage. Obamacare creates new taxpayer-funded subsidies for the low and middle classes to purchase health coverage, but the structure of the subsidies allows two individuals to claim more in subsidies alone than if married. This discriminates against married couples and discourages marriage at almost all age and income levels.
  5. It violates religious liberty. The Department of Health and Human Services included the full range of contraceptives, including abortion-inducing drugs, among the women-specific preventive services that Obamacare requires insurers to include with no cost-sharing. This mandate violates Americans’ conscience rights and religious liberty. Its narrow exemption for religious employers will force many who find these products morally objectionable—including religious charities, hospitals, and schools—to pay for them.
  6. It puts Medicare decisions in the hands of an unelected board. The Independent Payment Advisory Board, a board of 15 unelected officials, will have the power to cut Medicare spending without congressional approval. These unaccountable government appointees will be able to restrict seniors’ access to providers, treatments, and services.
  7. It puts a premium tax on health insurers. Obamacare adds a premium tax on health insurers that offer full coverage beginning in 2014. On average, the tax is expected to increase premiums by 1.9 percent to 2.3 percent in 2014 and between 2.8 percent and 3.7 percent by 2023. Combined with the other provisions in Obamacare, this tax will have a huge impact on the cost of premiums.
  8. It creates a new unsustainable entitlement program. On top of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, Obamacare created a new long-term care entitlement called the CLASS program. It is actuarially unsound, unworkable, and unsustainable. As a result, the Administration has already put its implementation “on hold.”
  9. It puts over half of all Americans on a government program. Because of Obamacare’s huge expansion of Medicaid and creation of taxpayer-funded subsidies to purchase health coverage, more than half of all Americans will be dependent on a government health care program (Medicare, Medicaid, or the government exchanges) by the end of this decade.

A treasure trove of information is coming out regarding Barack Obama’s time in college.  Over at the Breitbart sites, we are learning how Obama inserted himself into a fight to implement hiring on the basis of race at Harvard Law School.  The Obama tapes also seem to show the other Obama – Michelle – occupying the Harvard Law School dean’s office.  The occupiers were agitating for the race-based hiring of Harvard law professors.
The racialist fight at Harvard Law from 1988 to 1991 swirls around Professor Derrick Bell.  As detailed over at Big Government, Professor Bell was a role model to law student Barack Obama.  But he also openly advocated for a variety of racialist views wholly outside the American mainstream.  Some of them are outright crazy.  He deliberately used his position as a professor to teach racially charged theories of structural oppression by whites.  Obama, nevertheless, now famously urged us “to open up our hearts and minds to the words of Professor Derrick Bell.”
Joel Pollack, editor-in-chief at Breitbart.com, said on Hannity tonight that WGBH in Boston didn’t even reply to Breitbart.com’s request to review the tapes buried in the WGBH archives.  So instead, I went for the Bigs to Boston and reviewed them last month.  More will be coming out about the racially charged fight that Obama participated in at Harvard.  Stay tuned.
I found that Barack might not be the only Obama on the tapes.
In May 1988, Harvard Law students, borrowing from Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, and foreshadowing the Occupy movement of 2011, occupied the Harvard Law School’s dean’s office.  The students were supporting Professor Derrick Bell’s demand that the law school hire professors on the basis of race.
One of the students “dressed in black” and occupying the dean’s office appears to be Michelle Obama (Harvard Law ’88).  Here is a link to the grainy video.  (lower right at about ten seconds in, wearing white Keds):

It is important to note that I had the opportunity to review all of the original Betamax videotapes in Boston where the video quality was significantly higher than the internet version.  While there is some chance this is not Michelle trespassing and “occupying” the dean’s office for racial hiring preferences, the Betamax video version leaves very little doubt it is her.  Perhaps someone in the mainstream media will ask the East Wing if Michelle Obama participated in a trespassing occupation of the Harvard Law School dean’s office to demand race-based hiring of professors.

Govt. sets record deficit in February - Washington Times

Govt. sets record deficit in February - Washington Times: The federal government recorded its worst monthly deficit in history in February, according to a preliminary report Wednesday from the Congressional Budget Office that said the deficit in fiscal year 2012 is already more than half a trillion dollars.

The CBO’s figures show that despite repeated efforts to trim spending, the government has borrowed 42 cents of every dollar it spent during the first five months of this fiscal year.

The nonpartisan agency projected the government will run a deficit of $229 billion in February, the highest monthly figure ever. The previous high was $223 billion a year ago, in February 2011.

It is the 41st straight month the government has run a deficit — itself a record streak that dates back to the final months of President George W. Bush’s tenure. Before now, the longest streak on record was 11 months.

For all of fiscal year 2012, which began Oct. 1, the budget analysts said the government has raised $869 billion in revenue but spent $1.5 trillion so far.

Obama’s Unthinkable 2013 Agenda - Reince Priebus - Townhall Conservative Columnists

Obama’s Unthinkable 2013 Agenda - Reince Priebus - Townhall Conservative Columnists
If you thought Barack Obama’s first term was bad, you don’t want to see a second.
The verdict is in on the last three years. President Obama has produced a steady stream of broken promises, failed policies, and misplaced priorities. However, he still claims a second term will be different. It will. It just won’t be better.
We have seen the liberal agenda the president has pursued over the last three years: government run healthcare, cap-and-trade, pet projects disguised as “stimulus,” card-check, taxpayer-funded loans to now-bankrupt energy companies, and reckless deficit spending.
Now imagine what he would do in a second term—when he does not have to face reelection. We already know what the year 2013 would look like, and it’s not pretty.
By President Obama’s own admission, he wants higher taxes. In 2011, he remarked at a press briefing, “Nobody’s looking to raise taxes right now. We’re talking about potentially 2013 and the out-years.”
Now, his fiscal year 2013 budget calls for exactly that—$1.9 trillion in higher taxes. But if he cannot get that budget through Congress, he has another option: do nothing. If the president and Congress take no action, taxes will automatically increase by $3.6 trillion in 2013.
The president once described himself as “agnostic” on the idea of raising everyone’s taxes. As a first-term president, he wouldn’t dare do it, but as a second-term president not facing reelection, he has no incentive to stop the tax increases if he is truly indifferent.
Along with his plans for tax increases, the president’s 2013 budget also calls for increased spending—much of it in the same style as the failed $833 billion stimulus. Voters are demanding responsible government, but the president wants more budget deficits, which will require raising the debt ceiling yet again.
The credit rating agency Fitch has warned that unless the United States comes up with a “credible plan” to reduce the budget deficit, it will join Standard and Poors in revoking America’s AAA credit rating. Obama earned one credit downgrade in his first term. Without any plan for deficit reduction, it seems he wants another downgrade for a second term.
The 2013 forecast also includes a weak economy and unacceptably high unemployment, thanks to the president’s policies. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office said in January, “The economy will continue to grow at a sluggish pace over the next two years.” They also predict the unemployment rate will remain above 8 percent in 2013.
Without a Republican president to lead the repeal of ObamaCare, the unpopular act would come alive in 2013. Medicare taxes would increase, and taxes on medical devices would be imposed as well. Those new taxes could make some medical device companies unprofitable, leading them to fire employees or cut services.
In a second Obama term, regulatory agencies would ramp up their assault on jobs and domestic energy. The president has promised that the EPA can consider imposing more regulations in 2013, which the agency has estimated would cost affected businesses as much as $90 billion a year. The inevitable result: fewer jobs and higher prices.
That’s not all. If President Obama resurrects cap-and-trade, the added regulatory burden could cost taxpayers another $200 billion annually—as much as $1,761 for a family.
While the president pursues his agenda, other areas of the budget would be inexplicably sacrificed. His 2013 budget would force military families and retirees to pay substantially higher prices for their healthcare—even as civil defense workers are unaffected.
Under the debt ceiling agreement from last year, military spending would be drastically cut if the president fails to lead on deficit reduction. As Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has said, that would “devastate our national security.”
America has already been devastated by the first term of President Obama. But for those who would still consider casting a vote for him in November, just consider what a second Obama term would bring—and hope we never see it.

Joe the Plumber Throws Chin Music at CNN Anchor - 'Joe The Plumber' - Fox Nation

Joe the Plumber Throws Chin Music at CNN Anchor - 'Joe The Plumber' - Fox Nation: Samuel Wurzelbacher, who on Thursday morning accused CNN of being like TMZ and trying to trap him with “gotcha questions,” explained to POLITICO immediately following the tense interview that he is “sick of the gossip and drama.”

Reached on his cellphone after his early morning TV hit, Wurzelbacher, better known to many Americans as “Joe the Plumber,” explained why he had gotten flustered.

“Because I’m just — I’m sick of the gossip and drama. There’s real issues to work on. They want to take anything they disagree with me on to use it to twist it and use it to their gain and paint me in a in a light they want to paint me in,” he said. “Let’s … stop with the seventh grade shenanigans.”

Minutes after comparing CNN to TMZ on the air, Wurzelbacher said that the host of “Early Start” went “National Enquirer” on him by asking him about his previous statements on gay people.

“They want to paint someone as a bigot – I don’t hate people,” he said. “I am working for everybody.”

Blog: The cost of ignorance where the Middle East is concerned can be lethal.

Blog: The cost of ignorance where the Middle East is concerned can be lethal.
Making sense of what is taking place in the Middle East is difficult at best, and it's impossible if you don't understand the way players in the region think.  An article in today's Tehran Times provides a glimpse of reality in that turbulent part of the world.  The article's title is "Israel concerned about shift in status quo in Muslim world: Velayati."
Ali Akbar Velayati was formerly Iran's foreign minister.  Today, he is a senior advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.  When he speaks publically, you can bet that he has Khamenei's blessing.  Velayati said this about Israel yesterday:
"...the Zionist regime is making efforts to plunge Syria into turmoil because it is concerned about the fact that the status quo in the Muslim world is changing in favor of Muslims."
Part of Velayati's statement is patently false.  Israel did not "plunge Syria into turmoil."  The mayhem started in Tunisia during December 2010 when the Arab Spring began and made its way to several North African and Middle Eastern countries including Syria.
You can argue that it began in Iran in June 2009 when young Iranians protested Iran's election results.  Western nations sat on the sidelines and watched while the Iranian government viciously put down that uprising, but the bravery of those young men and women inspired discontented young Arabs to cast aside their brutal dictators.
You can even make the case that it started in December 1978 when Iranians rebelled against Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi's tyrannical regime and ushered in what came to be known as the 1979 Iranian Revolution.  It resulted in the Shah's ouster and brought into being the Islamic Republic of Iran under the leadership of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.  Be that as it may, Israel is no more responsible for the current rebellion in Syria than it was for the Iranian Revolution.
Velayati was only partially correct when he said that Israel "is concerned about the fact that the status quo in the Muslim world is changing in favor of Muslims."  It's not Muslims that concern Israel.  Israelis have been surrounded by hundreds of millions of Muslims since the State of Israel was reborn in 1948.  Israel is concerned because Muslims in the region -- Persians, Ottomans, and Arabs -- have turned and are turning over the reins of power to oppressive Islamists who are at least as repressive as the dictators that they are replacing.
Islamist leaders who are taking charge throughout the region are dead set on Israel's destruction.  Those leaving power had learned through many wars with Israel that a relatively peaceful status quo was preferable to military engagements that they could not win.  It appears that the new cast of characters in the Middle East will have to learn those lessons all over again at great cost both to themselves and to Israel.  That's a disconcerting development for the Israeli people because more than anything else they want to live their lives in peace.
To fire up their followers, Islamists blame Jewish people in general and Israel in particular for their failings and for unfortunate mishaps of all sorts.  It's part of their culture.  Examples of this abound, but a humorous recent incident will prove my point.  In December 2010, Egypt's Governor of Southern Sinai, Abed Al-Fadij, said that Israel's Mossad was responsible for shark attacks off the coast of Sharm al-Sheikh, a resort town on the southern coast of the Sinai Peninsula.
Leaders of Hamas, Fatah, and other Palestinian groups with menacing names do the same thing.  They are notorious for blaming Israel for everything under the sun including the disastrous effects of their incompetent governments.  They simply can't admit their own mistakes or take responsibility for them.
Unfortunately, the Western media reports what Israel's enemies say as though it was the gospel truth, and people throughout the world believe them.  That is arguably the biggest problem that Israel faces today, especially now that Iran is making headway toward developing nuclear weapons and missiles capable of delivering them to major Israeli cities.
The cost of ignorance is high, and where the Middle East is concerned, it can be lethal because as Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu said, "We reserve the right to defend ourselves against a country that calls and works for our destruction."  Netanyahu was referring to Iran specifically, but his statement applies to any country seeking to destroy Israel.

News from The Associated Press

News from The Associated Press: BEIRUT (AP) -- Syria's deputy oil minister announced his defection in an online video that emerged Thursday, making him the highest ranking official to abandon President Bashar Assad's regime since the country's uprising erupted a year ago.

The defection of Abdo Husameddine, who said he was joining the opposition because of the "brutal" crackdown on dissent that has claimed the lives of thousands of Syrians, came as the U.N.'s humanitarian chief Valerie Amos said she was "struck" by the devastation she saw in a shattered district of the central city of Homs.

Amos is the first independent outside observer to be allowed in Hom's Baba Amr since the military overran the district, wrestling it from rebel control on March 1 following a monthlong assault that brought international condemnation. She was allowed a brief tour in the ravaged district on Wednesday.

Weasel Zippers » Blog Archive » Carney: Obama Hitting Double The Number of Fundraisers As Bush Just Means He’s “More Successful At It”…: White House press secretary Jay Carney said that the high number of presidential fundraising events may simply reflect the fact that President Obama is better at raising money than his predecessors.

Asked about the fact that Obama has done more than double the number of fundraisers as George W. Bush at the same point in his president, Carney said, “he just may be more successful at it than some of his predecessors.”

“The fact is that the president is engaging in political events because that is what is required to run for president and to run to be reelected as president,” Carney said. “There is an enormous amount of support for the president and a desire to participate in these political events.”

Carney’s statement came in response to a question about whether Obama’s blistering fundraising pace was the result of super PACs and corporate spending allowed under the Citizens United case — an issue that Carney demurred in answering.

The PJ Tatler » A Few Fun Facts About Professor Derrick Bell Jr.

The PJ Tatler » A Few Fun Facts About Professor Derrick Bell Jr.
Today’s Breitbart.com  has announced a video to be released, showing Harvard law student Barack Obama defending Professor Derrick Bell Jr. in a protest. According to Breitbart.com, the original video has been heavily edited and more will be shown on Hannity tonight.
In the meantime, I thought it might be interesting to have a few fun facts about the late Professor in advance of the show.
This obituary, written upon his death, had some interesting points to make:
Bell was credited with developing “critical race theory,” which suggested that the U.S. legal system was inherently biased against African Americans and other minorities because it was built on an ingrained white point of view. He argued in his many books and lectures that the life experiences of black people and other minorities should be considered in hiring decisions and in applying the law.
Bell maintained that the standards for promotion and tenure at law schools – and Harvard, in particular – were inherently discriminatory and excluded a broad group of minorities. By hiring only graduates of top-tier law schools who had clerked at the Supreme Court, he argued, academia was populated by a uniform group of standard-issue professors, most of them white men.
And why are we not surprised that he was a Farrakhan supporter?
Some scholars, both black and white, challenged Bell’s ideas, as well as his strong support of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. Nonetheless, Bell remained one of the country’s most outspoken public intellectuals until his death.
Author James Traub voiced this opinion in his  1993 piece on the professor:
That’s Derek Bell’s bottom line: if it comforts whites, it’s bad; if it comforts blacks–i.e., Farrakhan–it’s good. Bell, along with Farrakhan and so many others, offers victimization as a consolation.
Yes, I imagine there will be so much more to learn about the good professor.

The Influence Industry: Obama gives administration jobs to some big fundraisers - The Washington Post

The Influence Industry: Obama gives administration jobs to some big fundraisers - The Washington Post: Big donors considering whether to work the phones raising money for President Obama’s reelection campaign might consider the fate of his 2008 bundlers. Many of them, it turns out, won plum jobs in his administration.

Obama campaigned on what he called “the most sweeping ethics reform in history” and has frequently criticized the role of money in politics. That hasn’t stopped him from offering government jobs to some of his biggest bundlers, volunteer fundraisers who gather political contributions from other rich donors.

More than half of Obama’s 47 biggest fundraisers, those who collected at least $500,000 for his campaign, have been given administration jobs. Nine more have been appointed to presidential boards and committees.
At least 24 Obama bundlers were given posts as foreign ambassadors, including in Finland, Australia, Portugal and Luxembourg. Among them is Don Beyer, a former Virginia lieutenant governor who serves as ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
“In filling these posts, the administration looks for the most qualified candidates who represent Americans from all walks of life,” said White House spokesman Eric Schultz. “Being a donor does not get you a job in this administration, nor does it preclude you from getting one.”
It is a time-honored tradition to reward political supporters with administration jobs, ambassadorships in particular. And Obama’s administration falls in line with the previous one in terms of the share of ambassadors who are political appointees rather than career Foreign Service officers.
The Foreign Service Act of 1980, however, states that “contributions to political campaigns should not be a factor in the appointment of an individual as a chief of mission.”
Obama has appointed 59 ambassadors who were not career Foreign Service officers, and of those, 40 percent were bundlers.
“We think that the pendulum has swung a bit too far toward the patronage side of things,” said Susan Johnson, president of the American Foreign Service Association, which represents career officers.
Not all political appointees have been bad ambassadors, Johnson said, but some have been less qualified, making them “costly in terms of advancing and protecting our interests and costly for the taxpayers.”
Obama has appointed campaign bundlers to a range of other jobs as well. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. was a bundler, raising at least $50,000, as was Julius Genachowski, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, who raised at least half a million dollars.
Obama hired bundler Steve Spinner as a liaison in the Energy Department. According to internal e-mails turned over in a congressional investigation, Spinner pressed for staff members to finalize a government loan for Solyndra, the now-shuttered solar company in which another campaign bundler was a major investor. Spinner, according to the Obama administration, did not make any decisions affecting Solyndra.
At least two of Obama’s bundler-ambassadors have had rocky tenures, according to reports from the State Department inspector general.
Nicole Avant, a music industry executive who raised at least $500,000, served as ambassador to the Bahamas until November.
The inspector general wrote that her tenure was part of “an extended period of dysfunctional leadership and mismanagement, which has caused problems throughout the embassy.” The report said Avant spent roughly 40 percent of her time out of the country over a two-year period.
In an interview, Avant said that she inherited an embassy with management problems and that her travel was not out of line.
“Part of my job as a U.S. ambassador was to travel,” she said.
Avant is now helping the Obama campaign raise money from donors in Hollywood.
Luxembourg Ambassador Cynthia Stroum, a Seattle venture capitalist who raised $500,000 for Obama, was also criticized in an inspector general’s report, which said she sent her staff on a house-hunting mission, billed the government for bedding after being told she couldn’t and was “keenly interested” in the materials used for remodeling two bathrooms in her residence.
“Most employees describe the ambassador as aggressive, bullying, hostile, and intimidating,” inspectors wrote of Stroum.
Stroum did not return messages seeking comment.
She was replaced by another bundler, Robert Mandell, a Florida real estate developer who raised between $200,000 and $500,000 for Obama’s campaign.
Statistics kept by the American Foreign Service Association show that certain posts are favored for political appointees. In recent decades, many European capitals, for example, have been staffed by political appointees more than 70 percent of the time. A representative of the association called those the “well-known sumptuous posts.”

This will allow Democrats to engage in voter fraud in the upcoming primary and RECALL elections, because if this ruling stands voters will not be required to show their ID to prove their identity when voting.

Obama scared of Occupy? | The Daily Caller

Evacuate, Occupy! Is Obama worried that front-page Occupy-style protests might be starting to hurt his reelection campaign? That’s one obvious explanation for the sudden shift of the G-8 summit to Camp David from Chicago. … At some point, you’d think, from Obama’s point of view, the Occupy movement will have done its work (giving the MSM an excuse to write about the rich getting richer) and begin to mainly convey a damaging image of 60′s-style lawlessness. Are labor unions supporting Occupy now so they can pull the plug on it later, when it starts to be counterproductive for Dems? …

Obama's litany of failures - Washington Times

Obama's litany of failures - Washington Times It is time for those who voted for Barack Obama to admit they were deceived and made the wrong choice.

President Obama’s stimulus package, Obamacare, the Dodd-Frank finance bill, restricting exploration and drilling for oil and natural gas, and taking away freedom of choice, including religious beliefs, have all had negative impacts on our economy and citizens. His diplomacy and desire to be kind to our enemies and abandon our allies is troubling.

But these and other misguided policies pale in comparison to his failure to support the military, his failed policies for defense and national security, and his total lack of support for our allies. Our enemies are more threatening than ever, Mr. Obama does not heed the advice of our military leaders and he is downsizing and impairing our military capacity. That means the nation will be less able to defend against or pre-empt enemy attacks. After three years, Mr. Obama still wants talks with Iran and North Korea, neither of which have abandoned plans for nuclear weapons. Mr. Obama believes he can use the talks to buy time.

TAKING OUT THE TRASH

http://americanactionforum.org/topic/taking-out-trash If the administration releases information on a Friday afternoon, it’s usually a good sign that it’s not something the administration wants anyone to notice. Case in point: the administration’s “Housing Scorecard,” which was released last Friday about 30 minutes before 5 pm. No doubt reporters were eagerly waiting around all day for it… And why wouldn’t the administration not want to highlight the gems in the report? $45 billion in lost home equity over the last quarter. 396,000 more Americans in underwater mortgages over the last quarter. 36,000 additional delinquencies since last more. Foreclosure starts and completions are also all up since last month. So as the President wraps up another multi-million dollar fundraising week, the administration hopes no one will notice that homeowners are getting squeezed. One thing is clear, this administration took this “scorecard” where it belongs: out with the rest of the trash.

Obama Health-Care Hikes Hit Military, Spare Unions; Vets Vow to Fight | Sunshine State News

Obama Health-Care Hikes Hit Military, Spare Unions; Vets Vow to Fight | Sunshine State News: Florida congressmen and veterans' groups on Tuesday blasted an Obama administration plan to double or triple Tricare medical premiums for active-duty and retired military personnel.

The sharply higher prices reportedly are designed to push service members and veterans out of the military's Tricare program and into Obamacare's insurance exchanges. The administration believes the move will cut Tricare costs by $1.8 billion in fiscal 2013 and $12.9 billion by 2017.

According to one congressional estimate, a retired Army colonel with a family currently paying $460 a year for health coverage would pay $2,048 under the new price schedule.

The plan would take effect after the 2012 elections.

Awful… Black Youths Douse Student With Gas & Torch Him, “This Is What You Deserve, White Boy” (Video) | The Gateway Pundit: A 13-year-old Kansas City boy is back home after two teenagers poured gasoline on him and lit him on fire. It happened Tuesday at the teen’s home on Quincy Avenue, just down the street from Kansas City’s East High School. The boy lives less than two blocks away from the school and was walking home when the attack happened. Melissa Coon said her son turned from the school’s stadium onto Quincy Avenue and noticed two teenagers following him. She said the teens followed her son home and attacked him outside his front door. “And they rushed him on the porch as he tried to get the door open,” she said. “(One of them) poured the gasoline, then flicked the Bic, and said, ‘This is what you deserve. You get what you deserve, white boy’.”
